The rules page has been updated to reflect our new deletion system. Please note that as stated here, you are not allowed to re-upload an avatar until your previous has been deleted as it is against Style File's rules. If your avatar hasn't been deleted, PM a mod or admin to ask why or attempt to delete it again. We get to all deletion requests within 24 hours of the inquiry.

Also, a few older rules have been updated to accommodate new items on Subeta (Whiteout). We will still be on the lookout for users breaking the rules or uploading incorrectly saved avatars.

On a final note we are interested in your ideas and suggestions for future Style File events. Let us know what you would be interested in doing and what a sufficient prize would be. You can let us know on our forums or on our Subeta thread.

We have a couple announcements for our users today. First off, we have a handful of new medals to be awarded to users that recieve X number of adores. This is just the icing on the cake for people who would like to set their goals and see the prize in the end.



Another change we have to announce today is the new HA deletion system. As some of you may have noticed we have many many users deleting HAs they upload to style file, this causes problems for users, admins and the site as a whole. This new system will hopefully cut back on people who are trying to abuse the limits of a basic account and also re-upload HAs with small unnoticable changes. Check the forums for complete details.

Now, if you'd like to continue using the new layout you can have access to it by purchasing a Premium Style File Subscription, and if you are already Premium and would like to change back to the old layout, that option is available to you in your prefs. The Style File staff is pleased to announce a handful of updates to our site tonight! If you're reading this, you've likely already seen the revamped layout for Style File. This new layout was created in order to bring a fresh and different experience for users to enjoy while browsing Style File. We have also added a small change to the way our Monthly Top 5 works.

We are pleased to announce our newest update to Style File! Avatar awards will be given out from this point on! This is the first of a few big additions upcoming on Style File! Style File is preparing for it's first event and we need your help! We're looking for un-bias, smart and creative judges to help us with our first event.

What we're asking of you is to nominate one of your peers to judge for this event. There is a small form to fill out but we ask that you contact the person you're nominating before submitting them. You need to make sure they are both interested and have the time to check style file daily (during the evening preferably) to help judge.

It is now necessary for your Subeta username to be the same on Style-File. This will help us identify users easier and prevent lots of problems in the future. We are giving users a 1 week period to let one of the admins know that they need a name change and after that, members that are found with different usernames will be temporarily banned until they PM us for a name change. There have been a few rules added to SF and it is very important that you read them! We're constantly working to bring you the best experience here on Style File so please take the time to read them so you don't break these rules in the future.

If you need your username changed per Style File's new rule please contact one of the active admins. Simply send one of them a PM on style file and they will get to it as soon as possible.

It has also come to our attention that some "zombies" on subeta have been saving their HAs without their zombie base and this is considered against SF's rules. Avatars uploaded to SF need to be as you would see them on the Subeta forums, profiles and anywhere on the site and as such, you can not remove your zombie skin. We ask that you remove avatars that have been uploaded in this manner as soon as possible so action will not be taken against your account.

Effective immediately there is a new rule on Style File:

You are NOT allowed to REUPLOAD the SAME avatar. Reuploading is ONLY allowed when you have made significant changes to the avatar. This new rule is to halt the misuse of the Fresh page and uploads per month limit. Users violating this rule will be warned only ONCE. Your second infraction will result in suspension and your third will result in a permanent ban.

DO NOT start drama over avatar claims/copyrights/copying issues in user comments. PM the user in question or file a report for the admins to look over. While some snarky comments can be passed off as not rule-breaking, I WILL make a no-drama rule if this sort of drama continues. I don't want to censor anyone, but Style File wasn't made to host drama.

As a quick reminder, generated avatars are not allowed on SF. If you are frozen on Subeta you are not allowed to upload avatars to SF any longer. Apparently there is a loophole to your wardrobe when you are frozen that still allows you to use it, but you are no longer a member of Subeta when you are frozen, thus, you are no longer a member of Style File. Style File is a Subeta community and if you can't partake in Subeta there is no point in being here. Your avatars will be considered generated and will be warned as such, and or banned/frozen.

Also, we are still accepting Moderator applications. Please be aware that this job is for moderating the forums and Style-File itself. All applications are still be looked at if you are curious on the status of your application. Thanks for using Style-File!

We've made a few small upgrades/changes to Style File recently and more are on the way! So far the following has been changed:

-Username links now link you to the person's Style File forum profile. There you can view a lot of their information and find a link to view their looks.

-Avatar titles are now limited to 8 words maximum.

What's coming up?

-If you receive a warning, you will soon get a notification on the actual Style File website, and not just on the forums.

-Minor bug fixes and some user suggestions will be implemented.

Good evening! It has come to my attention that many of our newer users haven't taken the time to read the site rules and terms and conditions. Many users have been improperly uploading HAs, editing HAs and uploading generated HAs. All of these things are not allowed on Style File. Please understand that we always take the time to investigate and deal with reported avatars. If you see any avatar breaking the rules please take a moment to report it so it can be taken care of.

(If you find your HAs have been deleted or something may be wrong it is strongly suggested that you check the forums! All warnings are issued via our forums (Verbal and Official) and numerous have yet to be seen by our users because they haven't logged into check. )

Thank you to all the people who have been reporting avatars when you see them. We really appreciate it!

All invited beta accounts have expired. Also, if you purchased an account upgrade that should have expired before today, it's now expired as well.

The 5 uploads per month you get as a non-premium Style File account holder is added on top of all of the uploads you accrued during your premium time. So no worries about having to delete most of your styles or wait months before uploading more! :)

This is just a friendly reminder to have users log onto the forums occasionally. Some of you may have noticed some of your HAs being deleted, comments being removed and other disciplinary actions.

We send out warnings via the forums and numerous warnings that have been sent out have not been checked by our members.

If it comes to a point where you are banned from Style File and you have no idea why, you will regret not checking your PMs or forum account.

We have tons of discussion and a great community here at Style File and the forums are there so that you can get to know your fellow Human Avatar makers!

Please do not report avatars that use old pre-revamp items. These are usually not generated, but were just saved by the member months ago. There is no way to prove otherwise. And yes, people do save avatars from months ago or more. Just look at how old some my avatars are!

Little change to the archives:

The archives are now split into pre-beta (up to last week's adore wipe) and post-beta archives. From now on, the archives will show the number of votes a style got during the month it was uploaded (November's split in half, though).

Hello and welcome back to Style File at it's new home!

We hope you enjoy our latest changes and improvements.

While I know some or maybe even a lot of you may be upset that we have reset all adores, the reasoning is the following:

All games and/or websites reset once their beta-testing periods are over. It was my mistake to forget to do this upon our opening in my haste and excitement. (Yes, I had planned on doing it then)

I know it's going to be hard and tedious to go back through previously uploaded avatars and re-adore those you liked. However, it was unfair that some people couldn't adore unlimited times as this could effect avatar standings. I also felt it would upset even more people if we totally wiped everything - uploads and comments along with adores, for example.

I hope you can look past my mistake of not doing this previously and remember that Style File is still a work in progress. We are also looking into showing the pre-wipe archives. More info on that tomorrow.

As always, we are willing to listen to your suggestions. Thank you!

Hello Style File members!

Let me start off by saying thank you for joining! Some changes are coming up very soon for Style File. What are they?

-Style File will be moving to it's own domain/website at style-file.org and will therefore be totally separate from Chic with it's own forums, log in, and profiles.

-All adores will be restarted to make the website fair for non-cult and non-betatester members.

-Basic and Unlimited (now called Free and Premium) accounts will be changed as explained below.

Organize your avatars in up to three categories

Premium Accounts
Upload an unlimited numbers of avatars per month, but only 5 per day
Give/Receive unlimited adoration

View extended archives on your avatars' activity [coming soon]
Customize your SF profile with CSS [CSS coming soon] and display your most adored avatars, your newest avatars, or your favorite avatars

-Style Watch has been implemented. You will now be notified when someone you're watching has uploaded a new style.

-Events now show up on their own page. You will get one notification on the main page of SF that takes you to a list of all of your events.

We will be moving to our new domain TONIGHT. There will be approximately 20 minutes of downtime sometime this afternoon/early evening. After that, you can still access Style File here until the new site is up and ready. Don't worry, though! All of your uploads and comments are safe and will be moved with the website. However, as adores will be resetting, I recommend taking screenshots of anything you may want to keep as memento.

So, some of you may have noticed that the site has been going a bit slowly at times the past few days. We're going to be doing some testing tomorrow (Wednesday) to see if being on a different host helps this at all.

You don't have to do a thing, it will be 100% automated for you.

I just wanted to give y'all a heads up about it so no one thinks the site has been hacked if they see the domain as chic.freeonitunes.net rather that subetachic.com! It's legit, just testing.

This will involve about 10 minutes of downtime tonight and Wednesday night each. I'm going to do it pretty late (some time between 2 and 3 am EST) so as to affect the fewest number of people.

Edit: This process is taking a little longer than I expected so I'm going to finish it up tomorrow night instead.

Hi, all!

Just wanted to give you guys an update of what I've been working on. Lots of small things, mostly, bug fixes, etc.

A couple of things that might be of interest, though, from this weekend.

Tags
The tag cloud, as many of you might have noticed, was getting beyond huge. So it's been stripped down to the top tags and a tag search has been implemented, which can be accessed from both the search and tag pages. You input what you're looking for into the tag search and it'll give you a list of tags that match your search term.

Style editing
Style editing on the Mine page has been combined into a single form, so no more having to save and wait for the page to load again to edit the next one!
